Technology Impact Programme (C-TIP)

C-CAMP’s Technology Impact Programme (C-TIP) strengthens the public health system by deploying innovative technologies that address public health challenges, Govt. of India’s policy initiatives and UN Sustainable Development Goals through the support of funding partners.

C-TIP works towards understanding needs within the health ecosystem and builds well-defined health technology programs and projects to address gaps using indigenous, contextually designed innovative solutions for societal impact. This has led to partnerships with key national and state health system stakeholders, in order to provide health technology solutions for augmenting public health infrastructure, in PHCs, CHCs, district hospitals and so on.

OUR FOCUS AREAS

Maternal, Newborn and Child Health | Tuberculosis | Rapid Diagnostics | Critical Care | Oncology | Diabetes | Ophthalmology | Mental Health | Public Health Systems & Digital Health

IMPACT

Over the last three years, with the support from 18+ funding partners including Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF), United States Agency for International Development (USAID), Infosys Foundation, HT Parekh Foundation, State Bank of India Foundation (SBIF), C-TIP has successfully impacted 18 states with 2600+ units of frontier health technologies, upskilling 3500+ health- care workers. This is projected to enhance the health system’s capacity to impact 25 Lakh to 35 Lakh lives in the next few years.

C-CAMP’s Key Healthcare Innovation Deployments & Public Health Technology Projects in India

We have deployed contextual innovations aligned with local challenges for better health outcomes compared to the existing standard technologies used worldwide. This has been observed in more than one project, notably the Assam respiratory support technology deployment for saving neonates in distress.

Karnataka

1. Project Early Life is a 4-year project through CSR support for strengthening maternal-fetal health and newborn critical care with innovative medical technology solutions in Public Health Facilities of Karnataka, targeting 2 districts every year.

2. As part of Karnataka’s Asha Kirana initiative, C-CAMP is implementing a comprehensive eye care programme to strengthen screening for various eye conditions including retinopathies, autorefractive errors and improve access in 11 districts to quality eye care technologies.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, C-CAMP had initiated three key healthcare projects – Firstly, piloting of maternal child health programme by deploying innovative technology for neonatal sepsis screening and cooling therapy for birth asphyxia across Raichur, Chamarajanagar, Sargur and Bangalore. Secondly, project on Strengthening Last Mile Cold Chain Healthcare for Routine Immunisation & COVID-19 vaccination using electronic Active Vaccine Carrier across Mysore district, with the CSR support. [Thirdly, Contactless Remote Vital Parameter Monitoring Technology, non-invasive ventilation CPAP devices and oxygen concentrators were donated to the Government of Karnataka for technology support to build resilient public health systems in Karnataka with philanthropic support during the peak of the pandemic]

Assam

1. As part of strengthening respiratory support to reduce neonatal mortality in Assam, 100% infrastructure capacity for neonatal and pediatric respiratory support using non-invasive ventilation (CPAP technology) was provided to all district hospitals and medical colleges in the State, through National Health Mission, Assam. 5,150+ newborns across 32 districts of Assam were supported with CPAP respiratory support. This brought about a 95% reduction in the need for mechanical ventilation generating evidence for the success of indigenously developed technologies in saving lives and the significant role of public-private partnerships such as CTIP in augmenting public health systems.

2. Project on Strengthening Last-Mile Cold Chain for Routine Immunisation & COVID-19 vaccination by deploying electronic, battery-operated Active Vaccine Carrier across 12 remote and hard to reach districts

3. C-CAMP has established an oxygen-supported 54 bedded augmented hospital infrastructure facility at Uluoni CHC under Simonabasti BPHC, Nagaon.

Tamil Nadu

1. Battery-operated Vaccine Carrier for Immunization & Vaccination: C-CAMP has deployed portable, battery-operated vaccine carriers in primary health centres and sub-centres across 5 districts, supporting Tamil Nadu’s COVID-19 vaccination and Routine Immunization efforts in remote and hilly regions, More than 13,000 beneficiaries have been safely vaccinated using the active vaccine carriers with more than 1132 vaccination sessions carried out using the active vaccine carriers over the past 1 year.

2. Contactless Vital Parameter Monitoring Devices: C-CAMP has deployed these devices for critical care support, aiming at saving nursing hours during the peak of the COVID-19 across four public hospitals in the districts of Chennai, Chengalpattu, Tirunelveli and Coimbatore This solution has been widely used across multispecialty wards and post-operative care, beyond the pandemic.

Manipur

1. Critical Care Medical Equipment: internationally certified oxygen concentrators, Contactless vital parameter monitoring units and non-invasive ventilation support.

2. Battery-operated Active Vaccine Carrier for Immunization & Vaccination: C-CAMP has deployed solar powered, portable, battery-operated vaccine carriers across 13 districts in Manipur to increase COVID-19 vaccination and Routine Immunization efforts

3. As part of maternal child healthcare initiatives, C-CAMP deployed maternal-fetal health monitoring devices across solar-enabled labour wards in 12 districts in Manipur to improve maternal-fetal health before and during childbirth

Nagaland

C-CAMP successfully established an oxygen-supported 50 bedded augmented hospital infrastructure facility at Dimapur District Hospital, and oxygen-supported 39 bedded COVID-19 facility at Imkongliba Memorial District Hospital (IMDH), Mokukchung District.

Meghalaya

C-CAMP has established an oxygen-supported 42 bedded augmented hospital infrastructure facility at Ampati, South West Garo Hills.
